5 Best Hairstyles for Working Out

Try these 5 hairstyles that stay in place no matter how much you move or sweat.

Do you have to constantly stop throughout your workout to fix your hair? Sometimes, you just want to shave your head after a workout because it has misbehaved so badly. Before you grab a razor, try pulling your hair into a style that stays.

Below are 5 hairstyle options that stay in place no matter how much you move or sweat.

1. High Ponytail

A classic and easy updo. If you want to quickly pull your hair back and get out the door, secure it in a high ponytail. You will not have to worry about your hair trailing down and sticking to the back of your neck. It will be up and away. For an extremely high pony, flip your hair upside down and pull all of it through your hairband. This will give you a little bit more of the messy look, but still remain in place when you start to run, jump, or squat. 

2. Ponytail Braid

To make things a little more complicated, try braiding your hair after you have already set up your ponytail. Just a regular braid — three sections, one over the other — and then tie it with another hairband at the end. This hairstyle is even more secure than a regular pony. All your hair will remain in the braid, preventing any loose strands or pieces from falling into your face. 

3. Secure Topknot

Say no to regular buns when you workout. Especially if you are doing any cardio, you will bounce the bun right off the top of your head. It’s no good. Instead, try twisting your hair into a bun, wrap it around with your hairband at least three times and secure the back of your bun with a claw clip. You can bounce away and the knot will stay.

4. French Braid

The french braid is the most complicated out of these five, but also a clear winner for a sweaty workout. Instead of pulling all of your hair into three sections, pull out three tiny sections of hair from the top of your head. After you have started the braid, add in small pieces from either side as you keep going. Pretty soon, you will have braided in all of your hair. Secure it with a hairband and you are all set. If it feels a little too tight, place your hands on the top of your head and pull your hair slightly forward to loosen it. 

5. Headband

This look can work with any of the above hairstyles. Especially if you have short bangs that won’t tie back. Throw a stretchy headband over your forehead. It will prevent your hair from falling or sweat from dripping into your eyes. If you have a hard time keeping headbands from slipping off your head, try using the wider headbands or the ones with grips. You will have a much better chance of keeping your headband and hair in place.
