The Search for the Perfect Pair of Leggings

When you drop it low for a squat at the gym, you want to be confident that your leggings can handle the stretch. When you sweat hard during a particularly grueling workout, you do not want to look down and see that the sweat has accumulated around your groin or butt area. These are a few of the common worries that cheap, ineffective workout leggings can provoke. Throw those leggings aside and hold out for the perfect pair of pants that meets all of the necessary requirements. 

What to Look For in the Ideal Pair of Leggings

1. Squat Proof

You do not want to find out that your favorite pair of leggings stretches to see through with each bend. No one needs that stress. When trying on a potential pair of leggings, do the squat test. In front of a mirror, squat like you would at the gym and look to see if they withstand the stretch. 

2. Sweat Proof

Sweating is good, do not be ashamed! Instead, feel confident that your body is ridding itself of toxins. But you can find leggings that mask the sweat while at the gym. There are specifications you can look for on the tag that will foretell their sweat visibility. For example, you want to look for leggings that say “moisture wicking,” “quick-drying,” and “breathable.” These indicators usually give you a thumbs-up for a heavy sweating workout day. You can also usually trust polyester, nylon, and spandex blends as these are the best for lifting the perspiration off of your body and out through the fabric so it will dry quickly. Lastly, choosing a darker or patterned color of leggings will mask any further showing of sweat. 

3. Tight in all the Right Places

Leggings should hug your curves while also leaving you room to move and breathe, both of which are essential in a workout. When trying on your leggings, do some stretching. Wide-leg lunges, high kicks, and toe touches are all good ways to see if you have enough room. High waisted leggings are in right now and do a great job at sucking in the tummy. But if it they are too tight, you will feel constricted and will not be able to breathe. Find the middle ground of sufficient coverage, but also make sure you can take a full yoga breath. 

4. Versatile

If you are going to spend a little extra for the perfect pair of leggings, it helps you justify your purchase when you see the versatility. Wear your leggings to the gym, step out in style with friends, and confidently walk the aisles of the grocery store.
